With the purpose of mechanization and automation of postal operations, establishment of new postal services such as sound & electronic post, culture development and IT enhancement of postal network, development of trace & track systems and improvement of the ways to enhance the quality of postal network according to needs & expectations of People regarding postal services, the Islamic Republic of Iran Post Company has established the IT center in 1994. Within these years, this center has begun to operate the website for the Company, Electronic & sound Post in 1999 and on the occasion of the World Post Day as well as mechanization of a great number of postal boxes throughout the country and has drawn a new landscape for Iran postal activities with planning to develop these services and creating grounds and controlling roteins of postal items.

The responsibilities of this center are as follows:

 -Implementing and general IT controlling over IT equipments.

-Planning, organizing and controlling the Computer Information System within the network.

-An attempt to enhance the technical knowledge, providing Technology and contributing in the training of human sources in the field of technology within the Post Company.

-Installing, operating and maintaining the wireless systems, X-ray, teletext and supervising over their performance.

-Investigating and predicting the needs of the units under the coverage of wireless, Teletext, X-ray and announcing it on-time.

 -Implementing and controlling over good activity of mechanization systems using state-of-the-art.

-Making relations with research or Industrial centers to obtain the most appropriate software equipments needed.

 -Consecutive investigation regarding the functions process of the used machines within network and an attempt to eradicate the possible difficulties.

-Consecutive research and evaluation regarding the latest IT achievements and other relevant sciences and techniques throughout the countries.

-Coordinating with other organizations and units in regard to using frequency and telecommunications circuits.

-Coordinating with IT council in regard to using various computer networks.
